How to Choose the Right Boudoir Photographer (Even If They're Not the Closest)
Booking a boudoir session is different from booking almost any other type of photoshoot. You're not simply choosing someone to take beautiful photographs. You're choosing someone you'll trust during one of the most personal and vulnerable experiences you may ever have in front of a camera.
It's why I always encourage women to look beyond portfolios and prices before making their decision. Because the right photographer isn't necessarily the closest one. They're the one who makes you feel completely comfortable.
1. Look Beyond Beautiful Photographs
Of course, loving a photographer's work is important. But beautiful photographs are only one part of the experience.
Ask yourself:
Can I imagine myself in these photographs?
Do the women look relaxed?
Do they look like themselves?
Do I connect with the photographer's style?
The photographs should make you feel something. Not intimidated. Not pressured. Excited.
2. Read How Clients Describe Their Experience
When reading reviews, look beyond words like "beautiful" and "professional." Instead, notice how women describe how they felt.
Did they feel safe? Did they feel looked after? Did they laugh? Did they leave feeling more confident?
Those are often the things that matter most long after the session has finished.
3. Ask Yourself...
"Would I Feel Comfortable Spending Several Hours With This Person?"
You'll spend far more time talking than you will actually posing. The right photographer should feel like someone who puts you at ease from your very first conversation.
4. Consider The Whole Experience
Ask yourself what happens before the camera even comes out. Professional hair and makeup. Wardrobe guidance. Exclusive venue. No time limits. Gentle posing. Privacy.
These things completely change how a session feels.
5. Don't Choose Based On Distance Alone
