One thing I notice almost every woman saying before her session is some version of: “I’m probably going to feel really awkward.”
And honestly? Most women quietly believe they’ll somehow be the exception.

won’t relax
won’t know how to pose
won’t look natural in photographs
won’t feel comfortable enough
Even women who later look incredibly calm and effortless in their photographs often arrived carrying those exact same worries beforehand.
Boudoir Is New For Almost Everybody
Social media sometimes creates the impression that women booking boudoir must already feel completely confident in front of a camera. But the reality is usually much quieter than that.
Most women I photograph are not models, They’re brides, mothers, women balancing busy lives and quietly stepping outside their comfort zone for the first time in a very long time. Which is exactly why my sessions are intentionally calm and fully guided throughout.
You are never expected to already know how to do this.
The Atmosphere Changes Everything
So many women imagine boudoir feeling intimidating before they arrive. But the atmosphere inside the session is usually much softer than expected. There’s natural light, music quietly playing, hair and makeup in the morning while we chat and gentle direction throughout the session itself.
Nothing rushed.
Nothing performative.
Nothing designed to make you feel exposed or unsupported.
And honestly, I think that slower atmosphere is often the moment women begin to realise they are allowed to relax into the experience naturally.
You Are Never Expected To “Perform” Confidence
This is one of the biggest misconceptions about boudoir photography. Women often assume they need to arrive already feeling:
fearless
full of confidence
naturally photogenic
But confidence is rarely the starting point.
Most women simply need:
reassurance
guidance
kindness
space to settle into the experience slowly
That is what the session is designed to provide.

Bridal boudoir clients especially tend to put enormous pressure on themselves beforehand.
