Times in My Life a Boudoir Session Would Have Changed Everything

As a boudoir photographer, I often see women step in front of my lens at turning points in their lives — moments of transformation, self-doubt, celebration, or rediscovery. And every time, I see the same thing happen: they leave feeling more powerful, more grounded, and more in love with themselves than they thought possible.

And recently, I’ve been reflecting on the times I could have really used a session like that — moments in my own journey where a boudoir experience could have changed how I saw myself. These are just a few of those times:

In My Late Teens

I didn’t yet understand what self-worth really meant. Like so many young women, I was searching for it in all the wrong places — chasing validation, comparing myself constantly, not realising how much beauty and strength I already had. A boudoir session then could have been a powerful mirror — showing me that I didn’t need to be more, just needed to be me. Laid bare, seen fully, and celebrated without judgment. What a gift that would have been.

In My Mid-Twenties, As a Bride-to-Be

Planning a wedding is overwhelming — the pressure, the expectations, the feeling of suddenly being in the spotlight. I remember being terrified about having all eyes on me, questioning how I looked and whether I would feel confident on the day.

A boudoir session at that time would have been a game-changer. It would have given me space to feel grounded again — to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment in a way that was just for me. And of course, to create a truly beautiful, personal gift for my now husband..

In My Early Thirties, Trying to Conceive

This was a season of quiet heartbreak — when my body felt like it was letting me down, and I felt disconnected from it entirely. I was stuck in a cycle of appointments, waiting, and wondering.

What I needed then was space to breathe. A moment of peace and reconnection. A boudoir session would have helped me soften into my body again — not for what it could or couldn’t do, but for the woman I was, right then. Still whole. Still worthy.

During My Pregnancy (and a Pandemic)

When I was pregnant with my little boy, I finally loved my body. I felt strong, feminine, and deeply in tune with the life growing inside me. But because of the pandemic, I never got to celebrate that feeling the way I wanted to. No maternity session. No keepsake of that incredible time.

I look back and wish I’d had that chance — to honour my changing body and the miracle it held. To capture the glow and the connection, frozen in time.

What I Know Now

There are so many seasons in a woman’s life where a boudoir session isn’t just a luxury, it’s a form of self-care. A way to mark a moment. To process. To celebrate. To heal.

Whether you’re entering womanhood, stepping into marriage, navigating fertility, embracing motherhood, or simply trying to find your way back to yourself… you deserve to be seen. To feel beautiful. To be reminded of your strength and softness, your fire and your grace.

That’s what boudoir is here for.
